Berkarakter Dengan Berbahasa Santun

Berbahasa santun seharusnya sudah menjadi suatu tradisi yang dimiliki setiap individu sejak kecil. Anak didik perlu  dibina dan dididik berbahasa santun, sebab anak didik  merupakan generasi penerus yang akan hidup sesuai dengan zamannya. Bila mereka dibiarkan berbahasa tidak santun, maka tidak mustahil bahasa santun yang sudah ada pun bisa hilang dan selanjutnya lahir generasi yang arogan, kasar, dan kering dari nilai-nilai etika dan agama. Sudah banyak kita lihat bahwa akibat dari pengungkapan bahasa yang kasar dan arogan seringkali menyebabkan perselisihan dan perkelahian di kalangan pelajar. Sebaliknya, anak didik yang telah terbiasa berbahasa santun dan sopan pada umumnya mampu berperan sebagai anggota masyarakat yang baik. Ucapan dan perilaku santun merupakan salah satu gambaran dari manusia yang utuh sebagaimana tersurat dalam tujuan pendidikan umum, yaitu manusia yang berkepribadian.
